Summary: Mulder realizes that his buddies are still a bit mad at eachother so he creates a club.
FADE IN:
EXT - TENNIS COURT - NIGHT
Mulder is sitting at a bench, lacing up his brand new athletic shoes. He's got a sweat-band on his head and smaller ones on his wrists. He finishes lacing and stands up and tucks in his white polo shirt into his black shorts, and begins his stretching. As he stands up stretching his right arm behind him, he looks out to the parking lot as if he's expecting someone to show up, he looks at his watch... "Hmmmm", Mulder thinks as he grabs his tennis racket and stands on one end of the tennis court, taking practice swings at the air.
A few more minutes pass, and Mulder is jogging in place, he glances over to the parking lot again... nothing. He looks at his car and then at the tennis ball serving machine at the side of the court, we think we may see a animated lightbulb pop up above his head... an idea!!
CUT TO:
INT - MULDER/KRYCEK'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Scully is seated on the couch with a scowl on her face, she's trying to read a book, something is bothering her. The phone rings, she angrily picks it up.
SCULLY
Hello?
CSM
Dana, you must listen -
SCULLY
No! I've made up my mind,
I'm not interested!
She hangs up, and throws her book to the coffee table and stomps off to her room (well what is her room for now, previously Mulder's). She slams the door behind her. A few beats later, Marita flies through the apartment's front door, Krycek follows her, they look very pissed off at eachother.
KRYCEK
God dammit Marita! -
MARITA
Oh shut up, Alex!
KRYCEK
It's not my fault.
Marita picks up one of Krycek's random vodka bottles and takes a drink.
KRYCEK
Marita, look I have every right
to go out with Stacy -
MARITA
No, you don't! -
KRYCEK
- How can you say such things?!
You said it yourself, that we
will never be involved!
Marita glares at him, and finishes off his bottle of vodka in one last swig.
MARITA
(heading to the door)
Fine!
She leaves the apartment, slamming the door behind her.
KRYCEK
(yelling after her)
FINE!
He picks up the vodka bottle to down it, but it's empty, he throws it into the corner of the room, it shatters all over. He looks at it and then goes into the kitchen and emerges with a new bottle of vodka, he takes a swig and wipes his mouth with his sleeve. Angrily, he plops onto the couch and stares up at the ceiling. Scully cautiously comes out of her room.
SCULLY
(low voice)
Is everything ok?
Krycek turns his head and glares at her.
KRYCEK
(disgusted)
Oh shut up.
FADE OUT. FADE IN:
INT - MULDER'S FBI OFFICE - MORNING
Mulder is alone, sitting at his desk, a dumb expression on his face, he looks left and then right. Deciding something, he stands up and walks out into the empty hallway, peeking into Krycek and Doggett's office. All he sees is Doggett, hard at work.
MULDER
Doggett?
Doggett looks up from his desk.
MULDER
Scully and Krycek haven't
been in yet, right?
DOGGETT
That's right, Agent Mulder,
haven't heard from either one
of them today, and quite frankly
I wish Krycek would have the
professional decency to call in if
he were going to be late.
Mulder doesn't know what to say, so he ignores that last comment and walks out and toward a drinking fountain and drinks. The elevator doors open and Scully and Krycek quickly exit, pretending they don't see eachother.
MULDER
Krycek...
Krycek ignores him and keeps on walking.
MULDER
Why didn't you show up
for our tennis -
KRYCEK
Shut up, Mulder. I'm not
in the mood.
Krycek enters his office, we HOLD ON Mulder, watching Krycek. We hear Doggett greet Krycek with a simple "Good Morning", and nothing said back in return from Krycek, he's ignoring his partner. Mulder goes back to his office, he finds Scully there crying. Crap! He gets an odd, confused look on his face, without saying anything to her, he grabs the files he wants to go through and heads toward the Janitor Break Room, taking with him the telephone directory and yellow pages, he smiles.
TIME CUT - A FEW WEEKS LATER
INT - MULDER/KRYCEK/SCULLY'S APARTMENT - DAY
Krycek is drunk to the point of not moving his butt off the couch, it looks as if he hasn't showered in days, and he's got stubble on his face. He sits, watching the TV, it's turned off.
Mulder is walking around, eating yoghurt, in his t-shirt and sweatpants. There's a KNOCK on the door. Krycek ignores it... well, either that or he just can't realize that it happened. Mulder looks toward Scully's bedroom door... hoping she will come out to open the door, he doesn't want to answer dressed like he is. Mulder then glances over at Krycek... just the way he was yesterday at this time... Mulder shrugs his shoulders and answers.
A UPS Delivery man is at the door holding a big box.
DELIVERY MAN
Fox. Mulder?
MULDER
That's me.
The Delivery Man holds out a clipboard for Mulder to sign.
DELIVERY MAN
Sign here, please.
Mulder shoves his yoghurt spon in his mouth and hands the Delivery Man his yoghurt cup, as he signs. He hands the clipboard back.
DELIVERY MAN
Have a nice day, sir.
As Mulder shuts the door on him, the Delivery Man is holding his hand out, trying to get Mulder to take his yoghurt cup. Realizing Mulder isn't coming back to get it, he sets it down in front of their apartment door and leaves. INT - MULDER/KRYCEK/SCULLY'S APARTMENT - CON'T
Mulder walks into the living room, carrying the big box.
MULDER
Krycek. Get sober.
Krycek just looks at him, Mulder picks up the phone to make a call, he doesn't open his package just yet.
KRYCEK
(re: get sober)
I am...?
TIME CUT: - FEW HOURS LATER INT - APARTMENT BUILDING HALLWAY
Skinner steps out of the elevator, and approaches Mulder, Krycek and Scully's door, he's about to knock when he steps right on the yoghurt cup and falls and hits his head on the door across from Mulder, Krycek, and Scully's apartment... he hits his head on the door of the apartment that Marita has taken residence in since Scully left her. Skinner lies there on the ground as Marita opens the door to go over to Mulder/Krycek/Scully's. She looks down at him, they share a look and she helps Skinner to his feet. They knock on door #42. Mulder answers, he's very excited.
MULDER
Come on in guys.
They enter to see Krycek, Scully and Doggett almost unwillingly seated on the couch.
MULDER
(to Marita and Skinner)
Take a seat.
Marita and Skinner barely are able to fit onto the couch, they are squished! Mulder stands before them all.
MULDER
I have gathered you here today -
KRYCEK
(not happy)
You sounds like a freakin' wedding.
MULDER
(pleading/desperate)
Guys... we haven't been the same
(to Doggett) this doesn't completely
involve you. (to group) Just because
some old guy that just happens to smoke,
comes in and tries to destroy us, doesn't
mean he will succeed. And do you know why?
(an evil mischevious smile crosses his face)
Because we are The SUPER BUDDIES!!!
Mulder grabs the box that was delivered earlier that day and pulls out some bright green t-shirts, they've got everyone's name on them (on the back side, in red writing), and "SUPER BUDDIES" (plus the name of the person that the shirt belongs to below that) on the top corner on the front. Behind the text is a graphic of a superhero, in a circle, around the circle the word "Friends" is written over and over again. He continues to talk as he tosses the t-shirts to everyone.
MULDER
I can't stand to see everyone
mad at one another any longer,
so from now on, we will all take
one road trip a month, and each of us
gets to personally decide the destination.
Mulder puts on his t-shirt, the one that says "Fox Mulder" on the front. He turns around so they can all read the names on the back: "Alex Krycek, Dana Scully, Fox Mulder, Marita Covarrubias, Walter Skinner, John Doggett". The red text clashes with the bright green shirt.
MULDER
If your name is on the back
of the t-shirt, you have to
participate.
DOGGETT
Agent Mulder -
MULDER
- Fox. That brings up another
good point, we must start using
our first names. We are friends
first, then colleagues.
Marita starts to giggle.
MULDER
(re: giggle)
Now, see! That's more like it!
Let's have fun... laugh a little.
Now put on those shirts!
Krycek stands up and puts on his shirt, followed by Scully, Marita and Skinner.
DOGGETT
Mul - Fox... isn't this
taking it a bit far?
SCULLY
Come on, John.
He looks at her hesitantly, then stands up and puts his shirt on, he looks down at the ridiculous graphic and smiles and shakes his head... it's so ridiculous, yet a real feel-good feeling among everyone. GO MULDER!
MULDER
Now, I know there are some
personal "issues" going on, but
forgive and forget, people! Life
is too short not to have fun and
enjoy eachother!
Mulder gives Krycek a hug and urges everyone to join by waving his hands. Marita joins in, wrapping her arms around both Mulder and Krycek, Scully joins in the hug along with Skinner. Doggett isn't all too comfortable doing this, he stands away, hoping Mulder won't notice. However Skinner does.
SKINNER
(to Doggett, whispering)
Come on...
Doggett joins in on the hug... wrapping his arms around Scully and Skinner.
MULDER
(eyes closed, smiling)
See... isn't this nice?
They all stand there hugging, the front door to the apartment slowly creaks open, a young boy (from 2x06 "Bluhp! Bluhp!") pokes his head in, and sees this. He loudly shuts the door.
YOUNG BOY
(O.S/yelling)
Mommy! You were right!
They are sex addicts!
Meanwhile, Marita wipes a tear from her eye and squirms out, causing the whole hug to break.
MARITA
(to Scully)
Dana, I'm so sorry for everything...
Scully (emotional as well) hugs her and starts crying.
SCULLY
Marita!
The guys look on... watching them make up and become best friends again.
KRYCEK
(amazed)
What is it about two women
hugging that really turns me on?
Scully and Marita part, Scully goes over to Mulder and hugs him.
SCULLY
(still kinda crying)
Thank you, Mulder.
MULDER
(patting her head)
Awww... it's nothing, Scully.
SKINNER
Nuh-uh... no last names.
Scully gives Skinner a hug now, Marita is hugging Krycek. They look into eachother's eyes.
KRYCEK
I'm so turned on right now...
Marita grabs his face and passionately kisses him. He's taken aback and she stops abruptly, leaving him wanting more. She goes over to Doggett.
MARITA
Welcome to the Wacky World of Mulder.She smiles at him, and turns to see Mulder and Scully doing the chicken dance with Skinner.
