Summary: Part two of "The Vegas Strip"... the day after.Zeke Ramone's Review:
Well, holy heck, I have a new favorite! The conclusion to "The Vegas Strip" begins with a very shocking next day, and Krycek couldn't be more of a pain in the sides of John Doggett, Monica Reyes, and Walter Skinner. He's more of a devil this year than the last! Scully's a bit oblivious to everything that has happened. Mulder meets some interesting people. And Doggett looses something very dear to him. A little overreacting leaves Monica a bit confused in the end. A very hillarious conclusion in this new episode of "Fox & Rat".
RECAP: The gang goes to Las Vegas for their newest Super Buddies adventure, on Skinner's money. They all split up in different directions: Krycek to "The Gutter" where we learn about Scully's stripping days, and her nickname of "Red". Scully, Alfredo and Marita go to gamble and Marita goes off giving away all her chips to more worthy people and Alfredo follows, leaving Scully alone and a little tipsy. Doggett, Monica and Skinner go to the bar and share stories of depresssion (Dogget tells of Luke's death; Skinner never really loved Scully because he had to; and Monica's confusion: Alfredo or Brad?). With Krycek's reputation on the line for a "Return of Red" night, he runs to a drunken Scully and drags her to The Gutter, where A.D. Brad Follmer ends up trying to get the agents back to work. Meanwhile, Mulder has found several people to help out in Vegas, and is a witness to a gay marriage. It seems everyone is getting married but Mulder when he sees Doggett, Monica and Skinner come running out of the chapel...
FADE IN:
INT. MIRAGE HOTEL – ROOM 307
Scully is lying on the floor, Brad is in a chair. We don’t know where Krycek is. Doggett, Monica and Skinner are on the bed. We pan down to notice that Krycek is halfway under the bed. Marita and Alfredo are no where to be seen.
On the bed, Doggett rolls over to be face to face with Monica. His eyes open and go wide. She still sleeps. He lifts his head to look around the room. He sees everyone. He runs his hand through his hair… then he notices the wedding ring on his finger.
DOGGETT
Oh no...He looks at Monica and then sees Skinner. He shakes Monica to wake her up.
DOGGETT
Get up, Monica.He hits her gently on the face to wake her up.
MONICA
Ow...
DOGGETT
Monica...
MONICA
(cranky)
My head hurts, and you go
and hit me on the head?She shuts her eyes to block out the light. She places her hand to her forehead. It is at this moment where she notices the wedding ring. Her eyes pop open wide.
MONICA
No... this is not happening.She looks at Doggett and can’t help but cringe at the thought that she could be married to him... and of what might have happened last night.
DOGGETT
I don’t think it was just us.
He signals to Skinner. Monica looks over and sees a wedding ring on Skinner.
MONICA
(almost amused)
Oh my god. This means you’ve
married two women in your
life and a man.She laughs a bit.
DOGGETT
Shut up. There is a more
serious issue here.
MONICA
What?
DOGGETT
I’m not wearing anything.
(beat) Are you?
Monica’s eyes go wide. Her fear realized.
MONICA
Oh...
They both slowly look over at Skinner.
DOGGETT
Is he?
MONICA
I’m not lookin’ to find out.
DOGGETT
(after a beat)
It gets worse.
MONICA
How?She looks at him to try to find out how he thinks this situation could get worse.
DOGGETT
Look around the room.She does and notices everyone. Suddenly, Krycek’s head pops up from under the bed.
KRYCEK
(happy/amused)
Guess what you guys did?He has a huge, dumb grin on his face.
KRYCEK
(even more amused)
Guess who’s here, Monica?
MONICA
(meaning every word she says)
Shut up and don’t say another word.
KRYCEK
What would your darling
Assistant Director Follmer
think if he woke up and saw
you with Doggett and Skinner?Monica glares at him. Krycek beams with amusement.
DOGGETT
Keep your voice down
or I’ll kill you.Skinner finally comes to.
SKINNER
Wh-What happened?
Monica looks over at him.
MONICA
We’re married.
Skinner raises an eye brow. Not too bad…
MONICA
Not just us, sir. You, me-
She moves aside to reveal Doggett.
MONICA (CON’T)
-and Johnny.Skinner’s eyes go wide. Then he notices Krycek.
SKINNER
(re: Krycek)
Why the hell is he here?
KRYCEK
(huge grin)
Not just me... A.D. Follmer
is here. Scully’s passed out
on the floor. (beat) And I
know what all of you
did last night.All three of them glare at Krycek. Knowing that this will all end in embarrassment because of Krycek.
KRYCEK
(Mr. Ego)
Now... I know you all want out
of this in the least humiliating
way possible.
MONICA
Yes, so keep your mouth shut.
KRYCEK
Let’s make a deal... I will
stay quiet if, and only if,
Monica does to me what she
did to you guys last night.
MONICA
(no hesitation/stating her ground)
I will not.Krycek shrugs his shoulders.
KRYCEK
(loud enough to wake the dead)
Then I guess I’ll have
to wake the others...
DOGGETT
(yelling)
Shut up! She will, ok?
Just shut the hell up!Monica looks at Doggett, she can’t believe what she just heard him say. Krycek gives her his sexy grin. Suddenly, Scully’s head pops up.
SCULLY
(out of it/hangover)
Hey...
They all notice her. Monica hides under the blankets. Scully sees only Doggett and Skinner in the bed. She didn’t notice Monica.
SCULLY
(amused)
What are you two doin’?
She stands up. Doggett and Skinner’s eyes go wide when they notice what Scully is wearing. Krycek smiles.
SCULLY
(notices Krycek’s smile)
What?
KRYCEK
Check out what you’re wearing.Scully looks down as she notices she is still wearing her costume from the strip club. Her eyes go wide as she runs into the bathroom and grabs a robe.
Monica pops up from underneath the blankets.
MONICA
Give me my cloths.
KRYCEK
No... Your dearest Bradley
is cuddling them.
They all look over at Brad. Scully comes out of the bathroom.
SCULLY
Does anyone want me to
go get orange juice or-
She notices Monica in the middle of the bed. However, she doesn’t think anything of it.
SCULLY
No... I’m too exhausted to.
(beat) So how are you guys?Krycek can’t help but laugh.
CUT TO:
INT. NANCY THE OLD WOMAN’S HOUSE
Mulder is standing outside of the house. He has a bandana on a stick over his shoulder filled with food.
MULDER
Thank you so much for a nice place
to sleep, and for the hearty breakfast.
NANCY
Oh anytime, Fox.
She smiles and pinches Mulder’s cheeks.
MULDER
I’ll be sure to mail you
your Super Buddy T-shirt.
NANCY
You’re a dear.
He smiles at her and continues on his way back to find his buddies. CUT TO:
EXT. THE VEGAS STRIP
Marita and Alfredo are lost. They look exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and well, in need of a good sleep.
MARITA
I can’t believe we are lost.
It’s all my fault.
ALFREDO
No it’s not.
MARITA
Yes it is. If I would’ve just
kept my chips instead of wondering
about giving them away, we wouldn’t
be here. We’d be in a nice hotel.
ALFREDO
We can’t be lost forever.
Marita looks at him hopefully.
MARITA
Do you think someone will put
our picture on a milk carton?
Alfredo just looks at her in disbelief. He can’t imagine anyone wanting their picture on a milk carton. She looks at him hopefully.
ALFREDO
I hope not.Marita looks at him confused, not understanding why someone wouldn’t want their photo on a milk carton. She looks at him worried.
ALFREDO
Don’t worry... we’ll find our
way back to the hotel.Marita smiles at him. He puts his arm around her and they walk off.
CUT TO:
INT. HOTEL ROOM 307 – MIRAGE HOTEL
Scully and Krycek are now eating room service. Doggett, Monica and Skinner are still in the bed. But they are sitting up. Monica covers her chest with a blanket.
KRYCEK
(taunting them)
Come on guys, come get some food.
He laughs, knowing very well that they don’t want to humiliate themselves by getting up.
SCULLY
Well, nature calls.
She gets up and goes into the bathroom. Krycek smiles.
KRYCEK
This is your chance...
MONICA
Not with you looking.
DOGGETT
(to Krycek/pissed)
You are close to death.Krycek just laughs. Scully comes back out of the bathroom.
SCULLY
You guys should seriously eat something.
SKINNER
We’re not hungry.
As if on cue, Skinner's stomach makes a hungry sound. Scully gives him a look. She brings some food over to him. She sits down next to him and notices that neither one of them is wearing anything. Scully’s eyes go wide.
SCULLY
(in shock)
Oh my god!She notices something on Monica’s butt. It’s a tattoo.
SCULLY
(reading tattoo)
"Christmas '86..."
Monica, realizing what Scully’s reading quickly lays down, taking Doggett and Skinner with her.
DOGGETT
(re: tattoo)
I can’t believe you have that!
MONICA
I wasn’t thinking.
SKINNER
Have what?
SCULLY
She has a tattoo on her butt
that says something about
Christmas 1986.
All of this has gotten Krycek’s dirty attention.
KRYCEK
What does she have on
her butt? I wanna see.
He goes over to them.
SCULLY
Never mind that, why are
all three of you in
bed together naked?
MONICA
No reason...
SCULLY
(nosy)
What happened to
you guys last night?
SKINNER
Nothing... that I remember anyway.
DOGGETT
(getting the heat off of them)
Why are you dressed like a stripper?
Scully says nothing. Krycek laughs. Suddenly, Brad Follmer wakes up with a start. Krycek laughs harder when he sees that Brad is awake.
BRAD
Monica? John? Walter?
(disgusted) Why?
MONICA
(not wanting to answers)
Now that you’re up, can
you give me my cloths?
Brad does and she slips her shirt on, then her pants.
KRYCEK
(to Brad/upset)
Why’d you go and do that?
BRAD
Because it’s the
honorable thing to do.
Monica crawls above the sheets and gets out of the bed. She makes sure not to expose Doggett and Skinner.
MONICA
Why are you here, Bradley?
SCULLY
(eyes wide)
Never mind that, who
did you marry?Scully noticed Monica’s wedding ring. Monica doesn’t answer Scully.
MONICA
We should give these guys
some privacy so they can
get dressed.
Monica heads towards the door. Scully and Brad follow. Krycek is the last one out of the room. He of course takes the time to pause and laugh at them. CUT TO:
EXT. THE VEGAS STRIP
A crazy bum is sitting against a building in an ally. Mulder steps into view and offers the bum a fresh banana. He sits down next to him.
BUM
Thanks.
MULDER
(bites an apple)
It’s the least I can do.
BUM
If I told you top secret
information, would you swear
not to take it to the proper
authorities, Agent Mulder?
Mulder is surprised that this bum knows his name. He nods his head and takes another bite out of his apple.
BUM
(crazy?)
I’m an alien from outer space. I’ve
deserted my kind and have moved to your
planet by my own free will. The leaders of
my race have been conspiring with secret
agents of the government, not just of the
United States, but all the nations in the
world. They are conspiring against the world’s
population. Their plan: to take over the planet,
to recolonize. The date has been set, Agent Mulder.
It’s up to you to stop it.
MULDER
Why tell me?
BUM
Because you have been following the case
since your sister was abducted. You are
friends with the right people. You need
to create the vaccination before it’s too late.
MULDER
When? When is too late?
BUM
The invasion will begin in all
seven continents. When you least
expect it, during a time of world
peace. (beat) They will begin
simultaneously on the west coast
and east coasts and work their
way to the center.
Mulder, by this point, has dropped the apple he was eating.
MULDER
Using spaceships, right?
BUM
Honey bees. Genetically altered to
carry the alien virus. They will be
released and will infect everyone.
MULDER
That’s not possible.
BUM
Which is why, after twenty-four hours,
my kind will invade and destroy all life
uninfected. Your people have no hope unless
you kick it in the ass ASAP.
MULDER
How do I begin?
BUM
You must find the vaccination now
and distribute it throughout the world.
Your partner, Dana Scully… she knows
how to recreate it. She must somehow-
Out of nowhere, men in black, lead by Morris Fletcher, knock the bum over the head and inject Mulder with a needle. His vision goes blurry. He sees a man pull out a Stiletto. It opens with a Rabwin-esque "thwit" as the bum gets it in the back of the neck. All goes black.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
INT. VEGAS HOSPITAL – 3PM
Mulder is in a hospital bed, surrounded by Scully, Doggett, Skinner, Marita and Krycek. Mulder comes to.
MULDER
(woozy)
Mommy?
Scully places her hand on his.
SCULLY
No, it’s us, Mulder. How do you feel?
Mulder tries to sit up, but he’s too weak.
MULDER
How’d I end up here?
SKINNER
The Las Vegas P.D. found you sleeping
in an ally on the Strip. Saw your room
key for the Mirage and got in contact with us.
MULDER
Why was I sleepin’ in an ally?
MARITA
Fox, you may not know this, but you
do strange things when you wonder
about all by yourself.
DOGGETT
A.D. Follmer showed up and apparently
Kersh discovered that Skinner was using
The Bureau's time and money for this trip.
We’re heading back later today.
SKINNER
Yeah, and I’m sure I’ll be in
deep shit when we get back.
MULDER
Oh poo! I knew I’d never
get the chance to be a high roller.Mulder gets out of his hospital bed. Somehow he’s all better… it’s Mulder… he does things.
MULDER
Well, I better change now so we can go.
They leave his room so he can change. INT. HALLWAY
Skinner, Marita, and Krycek sit in chairs. Scully and Doggett stand outside the room.
DOGGETT
Um, Scully? You still have
my wallet, right?
SCULLY
Oh John... um… when I was drunk last
night and Krycek took me to that
strip joint, a few fans of mine stole
my cloths as their souvenirs. They
didn’t leave your wallet.
DOGGETT
(dead-panned)
They what?
SCULLY
(feeling horrible)
I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have
gotten myself so wasted.
I’ll pay you back.
Doggett looks saddened.
DOGGETT
No, don’t bother yourself
with that, it’s not important.He looks at the ground. Scully senses something is wrong. She touches his arm.
SCULLY
John?
DOGGETT
The only picture I have left of my
son was in it, that’s all. No big deal.No big deal?!
Doggett walks off and joins the others. Scully watches, shocked to hear he had a son and sad that he now has no photos of him.
CUT TO:
INT. BAR AT MIRAGE HOTEL
Monica and Brad are at the bar. They both have drinks in front of them, but they aren’t drunk.
MONICA
So what are you going
to tell Kersh?
BRAD
Exactly what happened.
MONICA
(after a beat)
No need to mention the three
way marriage, we got that annulled.
Monica takes a sip of her drink.
MONICA
(worried for her job)
I didn’t know we weren’t
aloud to come. I thought
Skinner cleared it and that
he used his own money.
BRAD
I know, Monica.
He takes her hand. Monica senses what he’s trying to do.
MONICA
No Brad. I’m with Robert.
BRAD
Then where is he this whole
time? (beat) I saw him with Marita.Monica looks at him.
BRAD
I’m only looking out for you, Monica.
I don’t want you to get hurt.
In the background we see Alfredo enter the bar. We are now out of Monica and Brad’s conversation and with Alfredo. He can’t hear what they are talking about. But he sees them.
ALFREDO’S POV –
Monica leans over and gives Brad a small kiss on the cheek. She then gets up and walks away. Brad keeps his gaze on her.
Monica walks towards Alfredo, but she hasn’t noticed him. She’s smiling. Then she looks towards Alfredo’s direction. He doesn’t look happy. Her smile fades.
MONICA
Hi Robert.
ALFREDO
If you don’t want to be
with me anymore, just
tell me. Stop sneaking
behind my back.
Monica doesn’t understand what he’s talking about.
MONICA
(confused)
What are you talking about, Robert?
ALFREDO
(mad)
You and your precious Bradley.Monica looks back at Brad. He’s paying for the drinks.
MONICA
That was nothing, Robert.
ALFREDO
Just admit it to yourself, Monica.
Everyone knows about you and Assistant
Director Follmer. I’m not the kind of
guy to stand in the way.
Monica can tell he’s pissed.
MONICA
What are you saying?
ALFREDO
I think you know. (beat)
Go off and be with him.
We’re over, Monica.Monica doesn’t know what to say. Alfredo turns away from her and leaves. As he leaves, Monica is at a loss at what to do. Off her confused look, we...
