Lifestyle: Shannon McMahon was born into a Military family. Her father, Timothy McMahon, was a General with the United States Marines Corps. Her mother, Allison, was diagnoses with Bipolar soon after Shannon was born in 1967. This complicated things for the McMahons, and Shannon's father was forced to balance raising his daughter and the demands of the Military. When Shannon was five years old, her mother committed suicide, leaving Shannon with only her father.

Life for the McMahon's was not easy. Her father raised her the only way he knew how, by incorporating Military into her life. It is no shock that when she turned eighteen in 1985 she went to boot camp to start her journey to one day become her father, a General with the USMC.

For college, Shannon wanted a change and made it west to Los Angeles to attend UCLA Law. She graduated top of the class, earning her Juris Doctorate degree in 1989. Soon after, the Gulf War broke out and Shannon was shipped over seas in 1990, meeting up with John Doggett and Knowle Rohrer to serve their time as Marines. In 1992, Shannon returned state side and pursued a career with the Department of Justice, later becoming the Associate Attorney General.

Relationships in Shannon's life have always been a bit rocky. She dated Knowle Rohrer in high school, took a break, then started a long distance relationship with him near the end college and while he went away to get military experience and training for the Department of Defense for about six years. During that time, Shannon also managed to have an affair with John Doggett while he was married. Their affair ended abruptly in 1993 when Doggett's son went missing. Shannon and Doggett have never been the same since that day. Doggett blamed her for his son's disappearance because he wasn't able to be there, though he really only blamed himself inside his own mind. Shannon felt guilty as well, and never told Knowle of her affair. Once Knowle moved back to the East Coast in 1998, their relationship became easier, though they still deemed themselves as "players". What Shannon didn't know is that Knowle started working as a Special Ops agent for the Department of Defense and had to lie about what he was really doing, so Shannon assumed he was being a "player". Secretly, she didn't want to have that kind of lifestyle. Shannon finally ended her relationship with Knowle in 2005 when she realized his feelings for Monica Reyes. Shannon herself had started seeing another man, a General with the USMC, Roger Thompson, who was significantly older than she.

Shannon has always been a very demanding person, and that especially shines when she is face to face with war or on the battle field. Though she has a lower ranking than others, she will shout out orders as if she were a General, probably because of how she grew up. Shannon never really had a mother figure in her life and is more of a tom boy than anything else. She's strong, she's determined, and she never shows any sign of fear.
