Lifestyle: Knowle Rohrer grew up in deep
south Texas as an only child to Gary and Naomi. Life growing
up was hard for him. His father was a drunk who liked to take
out his anger on his wife, Naomi, and even Knowle. Luckily
for Knowle, he had a good extended family with the Doggett
and Reyes families who lived near by in the same city of McAllen.
As a child, Knowle became interested in the U.S. Army when
he and his friend John Doggett would play "backyard boot
camp", where they would gather up all their friends to
be Marines and dig trenches on the Doggett farm. This interest
in the Marine Corps would lead Knowle on his path of life
and in 1988 he went through boot camp at Parris Island, South
Carolina.
Throughout life Knowle had a thirst for knowledge. Not satisfied
with the education he would recieve through public school
in McAllen, Knowle paid his own way to Northwood School in
Lake Placid, New York. Always a leader, his friend John Doggett
followed, also wanting to recieve the highest education possible.
Monica Reyes followed the next year. The education he recieved
while in boot camp was not enough to satisfy him and he continued
going to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island from
1985 to 1989, where he majored in Military Science, and excelled
at learning as many foreign languages as he could, including
Arabic, which became useful to him during the Gulf War.
From 1990 to 1992, Knowle served in Operation Desert Storm
as a Corporal E-4 for the United States Marine Corps. It's
safe to say that he went through hard times during the war.
In "Stranded I" (8x17) we learn that Knowle was
wounded while in battle and had to improvise medical treatment
without any medical supplies. On February 25, 1991 the USMC
Barracks in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia were hit by a Scud missile.
The building collapsed and John Doggett pulled him out, saving
his life. Both men were wounded, earning their ticket home.
In 1992, Knowle retired from active duty with the USMC.
After the Gulf War, Knowle moved back to Texas and joined
the Texas State Guard in Austin, continuing - in his own way
- his advancement with the armed forces. Two years later Knowle
is approached by an officer with the Department of Defense
who offers Knowle a job with Transformation training in Fort
Hood, Texas. Knowle would excelle with this training for the
next four years and in 1998 he would move to Washington, D.C.
to work at the Pentagon with the Department of Defense. He
would tell everyone he did strategy planning, but in reality
he was working as a Special Operations agent, going on dangerous
missions he could never speak to anyone about.
In 2006, Knowle recieved a suspicious promotion in the form
of his military advancement from the President of the United
States. He was promoted from Corporal E-4 to Master Sergeant
E-8. The suspicion around this promotion was because he had
not served actively with the Marines since 1992. He was sent
away to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to help prepare for a
"war with Iran", in reality he was being set up
by aliens within to be killed in preparation for Alien Colonization.
Knowle has never been good at relationships. He was a player
during high school while dating Shannon (who happened to be
a player herself). While in college, Knowle dated Monica Reyes
for a year. She happened to live with him while they both
attended Brown University. Living a secret life as a Special
Opererations agent had a toll on Knowle's personal life. When
he started in with the Department of Defense in 1998 he was
dating Shannon McMahon, his steady girl friend since 1988,
though he had dated her before for many years. That same year,
he asked Monica Reyes to stay with him in Washington instead
of going down to New Orleans to continue with the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, knowing she wasn't happy with her
career move of law enforcement. In 2005, Knowle and Shannon's
relationship came to an end when Shannon broke up with him,
not wanting to live life as a "player". Shannon
also realized that Knowle had grown feelings for Monica Reyes.
Shannon had also fell in love with another man. It wasn't
until Knowle was called again to active duty, this time for
Alien Colonization (disguised as a pending war with Iran),
that he told Monica how he felt for her, saying that he never
told her before because he believed he could never give her
the happiness she deserved. To his surprise, Monica felt the
same way for him.
Having enemies is something Knowle tries to avoid, but sometimes
can not be helped. He made an enemy out of Alex Krycek after
he found out what he did to John Doggett and Monica Reyes
in March 2004. He's been at odds with him ever since, and
has tried to move beyond the tension, but Krycek's attitude
makes that difficult, and is sometimes too easy to pick on.
Part of the reason Knowle became at odds with Krycek was because
of how loyal he is to his friends and how much he cares for
them. Krycek betrayed John and Monica, therefore betraying
Knowle.
Knowle is loyal to his mother and holds her higher than anyone
else in his life. After boot camp in 1988, Knowle helped his
mother get away from his abusive father and had him arrested
for what he had done to his mother. This is possibily the
driving motivation he had to make it through boot camp - to
save his mother. But his family complication didn't stop with
his father's arrest. In March 2006, Gary was released from
prison after seventeen years because of "good time",
claiming to be a reformed Christian. Though it was never proven,
Knowle believes his father caused the heart complications
that resulted in Naomi's death.
Knowle has a passion for playing guitar, and has a fondness
for the music of Johnny Cash. He also enjoys cooking and has
extensive knowledge on strange subjects such as ice in restaurants.
He is gifted with knowledge and excels with learning foreign
languages as if it were nothing.
